The Who... Eric Clapton... Led Zeppelin... Pink Floyd... David Bowie... Yes... Free... Rod Stewart... Jethro Tull... Deep Purple... The Nice and scores more. Acts that didn't usually play in the North East played for Geoff Docherty.

A North East music promoter who was responsible for bringing some of the world’s top bands to Wearside, Geoff "Doc of The Bay" Docherty booked some of the best-known groups in the '60s and '70s, bringing them to the city to perform at the now-defunct Bay Hotel and The Locarno Ballroom, along with promoting many major gigs at Newcastle City Hall and the Mayfair.

Among Geoff's many claims to fame were hiring Free for just £35 and also managing to convince the mighty Led Zeppelin to appear three times in the same year.

Geoff has charted his career in the No. 1 Bestseller A Promoter's Tale (currently in discussions as a potential movie project) and its long-awaited follow-up, Three Minutes of Magic; both books written by the man who promoted John Peel's all-time favourite gig (Rod Stewart and The Faces at Sunderland's legendary Fillmore North, 1973). Says Geoff: "Now it was time to break into managing groups during the '70s, '80s and '90s in order to to acquire major record contracts on their behalf. This is fully detailed in my latest release Three Minutes Of Magic as well as giving a fascinating insight into the machinations of the rock business together with the devastating perils of drug taking."

Still active in the rock business, Geoff is available for Public Speaking.
